The lemon can be called an all-purpose remedy as it can really be used for almost anything. Be it to alleviate an illness, for cosmetic treatments, for cooking or as a cleaning agent – the lemon can be used in a wide variety of situations.

We recommend that you always have (preferably organic) lemons at home, there are numerous ways to process or use them. Here are some tips on how to use it:

  • Anti-aging agent for our face: mixed with water, this citrus fruit can prevent the formation and appearance of so-called free radicals, which are responsible for premature skin aging. The lemon is rich in antioxidants. Drink the juice of half a lemon every morning, preferably before breakfast and in the evening before going to bed. The calorie intake is minimal. This application also helps against fat deposits.

    • Relieves Sore Throat : Lemon is an infallible cure for sore throats. It strengthens the mucous membrane, disinfects and works against bacteria. Drink lemon tea with honey to soothe a sore throat. As a variant, you can fry half a lemon, let it cool, squeeze out the juice and take it with a spoonful of honey. In a matter of minutes, you will feel a lot more comfortable.
    • For nail cleaning: For example, if you smoke and therefore have colored fingernails or if you have stains after removing nail polish, you can use lemon. This fruit is a great nail cleaner. Prepare a hand bath by mixing some water with the juice of half a lemon. Dip your hands in this bath and let the lemon water soak in for five minutes. You can also use the lemon directly on your fingers or nails. To show off beautiful hands, mix the juice of three lemons with a little glycerin and apply this to your hands. After a few days you will notice the difference.

      • Against skin spots: As with fingernails, lemon can also be effective against skin spots, so you can save yourself expensive skin creams and long treatments. Apply some lemon juice to the affected area and leave it on for 15 minutes. Then wash the skin off. If you want to make an exfoliator, add a spoonful of honey or sugar to the lemon juice. Note, however: Do not go into the sun that day as this would have the opposite effect.

      • Light strands of hair : If you want to change or lighten your hair color, but don’t want to use chemicals, you can try this recipe. Mix 3/4 of a cup of water with 1/4 of a cup of lemon juice. Wash your hair as usual, then apply this mixture afterwards. Then sit in the sun until your hair is dry. Repeat this process every day for a week.
      • Oral Care : Lemon stops bleeding gums and relieves toothache. You can also use lemon as a mouthwash as it reduces the oral bacteria that are responsible for bad breath. Mix the juice of half a lemon with a little water and use it to rinse your mouth every morning. Note, however, that the acid can attack the tooth enamel and the oral cavity should be neutralized again after rinsing the mouth.
      • Blood purification : The lemon is ideal as a purifier of the circulatory system, it removes excess sugar, chemical preservatives and flavor enhancers. Drink lemon water daily to cleanse the blood and the body. It is also very refreshing.
      • Blood pressure stabilization : Lemon is rich in potassium. Take two glasses of lemon juice with a little water every day. This will prevent dizziness and nausea. You will eliminate stress and depression and your body will calm down.

        • As a fragrance dispenser for the refrigerator : You can easily remove any unpleasant odors with lemon. Rub a lemon over a sponge or piece of cotton, then put it in the refrigerator for a few hours.
        • To prevent cauliflower from turning brown : Just add a spoonful of lemon juice to the cauliflower cooking water before preparing it.
        • To disinfect wooden boards : If you prepare meat on a wooden board, it can happen that the board takes on an unpleasant smell afterwards. Rub the board with a lemon and leave it in a lemon juice and water mixture for some time. This eliminates the unpleasant smell of the bacteria.

        • To drive away insects : Mix the juice of 4 lemons with 2 liters of water. If you then wet the door and window frames with this mixture, you will drive away annoying ants and other vermin, especially in the kitchen. You can then also use this mixture to clean floors.
        • As a fragrance dispenser for the trash can : Put some lemon peel in the bottom of the trash can to get rid of the offensive odor. This is particularly useful in summer and with certain leftover food.
        • To get the beautiful green color of guacamole : Like many other fruits, avocado oxidizes very quickly. Drizzle the fruit over it immediately after cutting to keep its natural green shade, otherwise it will turn brown and look unappetizing.
